Nursing research has tremendous influence on current and future professional nursing practice. It is also a vital component to the health care field which helps in implementing new changes in the lifelong care of individuals. Indian Nursing Council being a statutory body encourages nursing research and evidence-based practice in different set-up. Nursing students of different courses like GNM, BSc and MSc are expected to gain knowledge and skills in nursing research which may help them to input their knowledge in different settings. This book has been developed to supplement knowledge on research, make the students clear about research concepts and provide a solid understanding on research methodology. The first edition of this book includes all aspects of nursing research and has been written in simple language with suitable examples. This textbook is designed to provide in-depth coverage of all aspects of nursing research with avoidance of unnecessary vague thing which confuses the students. Several topics that rarely dealt with existing nursing research books like different types of qualitative researches, application of theories in nursing research, application of biostatistics in nursing research in detail and newer methods and tools for data collection are also covered in this book. This book has also a separate chapter on research critique which helps the researcher to evaluate quantitative and qualitative research studies.
For nursing students, this book can form a basis for identifying research problem, planning and implementing a research plan, enabling the students to evaluate research studies and utilize research findings to improve quality of nursing practice. It is expected that the information presented in this textbook will be interesting and useful for the readers. Readers are welcome to give valuable and constructive suggestions in the content which will help to enrich the future editions and will be appreciated.
The growth of nursing profession is possible by the growth of nursing research. This book has been evolved to reflect the continuous advancements in the field of nursing research, and to meet the growing information source required for nursing students.
