It is a real pleasure to present this new book from a very special doctor!
I had the honor to receive the Trichology book as a present from Professor Subrata Malakar, 3 years ago and I was really impressed: a very beautiful book, everything more than perfect, with pictures of the best possible quality. I know how much work is necessary to write a good book and I admire his capacity of pursuing in this task. His dermoscopy book was another example of perfection and now this book on Pediatric Dermoscopy, Trichoscopy and Onychoscopy completes the series. I am honored to have contributed with a chapter to this book specifically dedicated to all aspect of dermoscopy in children, the first ever published book of this kind.
No doubts, it will be a bestseller and I am sure that most dermatologists and pediatricians will have it on their desk.

Preface
When my book ‘Trichoscopy: A Text and Atlas’ was published in 2017, a very few dermatologists in India were trained to utilize dermoscope for the diagnosis and evaluation of trichological and dermatological disorders. In 2018, when I published my next book ‘Dermoscopy: Text and Atlas’, things were changing because of more and more published articles in the major journals and the subject was gaining importance in most of the conferences; conferences dedicated only to dermoscopy and trichoscopy were also successful to attract dermatologists in India and some other countries. As this novel technique is becoming popular in India and across the world and it became a passion for me, I wrote this book ‘Pediatric Dermoscopy, Trichoscopy and Onychoscopy’ entirely devoted to pediatric population. As dermoscopy is noninvasive and the findings are almost instant, it is very suitable for use in pediatric patients in whom invasive diagnostic procedures are truly difficult to carry out.
I spent more than 5 hours a day for last 3 to 4 years working on dermoscopy and trichoscopy. Thanks to my son, Dr Surit Malakar and some dedicated and talented junior colleagues such as Dr Purva Mehta, Dr Sushrut Save, Dr Samipa Mukherjee, Dr Harshal Ranglani, Dr Seujee Das, and Dr Rashmi Agarwal for constantly supporting me.
I am sure readers of this book will get their own findings and discoveries. I encourage all the dermatologists to share their findings and experiences with others in this developing field of diagnosis.
Keeping in mind that we find only what we look for, I wish all of you the very best to discover more and more in dermoscopy, trichoscopy, and onychoscopy in pediatric populations.
Subrata Malakar
