About Video

Closed rhinoplasty has its own proponents and open rhinoplasty has its own. Eventually it is the surgeons’ preference that decides the approach to be used. While results can be comparable, it is technically more challenging to demonstrate a closed rhinoplasty procedure. The author has attempted to demonstrate the salient features of a closed technique rhinoplasty. The procedure begins with a hemi-transfixation incision, followed by an intercartilaginous incision. Then the nasal periosteum and the flap are elevated. Septal correction is performed with the removal of a septal spur and correction of the caudal septal dislocation. The dorsal hump is reduced by rasping, and after the desired result is achieved, the incisions are sutured back.
