This video demonstrates a type IV thyroplasty, which is usually performed for patients suffering from androphonia not responding to voice therapy or as a component of gender-reassignment procedures (male to female). It can also be performed for bilateral/unilateral external laryngeal nerve paralysis. It is also known as the cricothyroid approximation procedure.
