About Video

This video demonstrates the endoscopic treatment for a mucocele that had caused attenuation of the skullbase and lamina papyracea. The mucocele is entered with a powered instrument, the contents evacuated, and the walls removed to marsupialize it. Mucoceles do not require to be excised in toto, and simply marsupializing them into the sinonasal space can prove to be an effective treatment. In fact, over a long period of time, the lining of the mucocele is known to revert to normal nasal epithelium, as well as bony remodeling can help revert changes of proptosis when present.
