About Video

This video shows a case study of woman presented with complaints of chronic pelvic pain (CPP) since last 2 years. History of presenting complaints, menstrual history, sexual history and past history of that woman are provided along with different clinical examinations. Ultrasound examination is the most commonly used investigation. Doppler ultrasound may be used for diagnosis of pelvic congestion. Laparoscopy detects small nodules (powder-burn lesions) of endometriosis which may remain undetected clinically. Presence of blood in the Cul-de-Sac is also found in investigation. Diagnosis of moderate degree endometriosis of the left side is made in this patient. Oral analgesics and hormonal therapy are effective medical treatment, but in this case it is not found to be helpful. Surgical option is chosen in this case because the patient presenting complaints were both pain and infertility. Laparoscopic laser ablation of endometriotic lesions and excision of adhesions is carried out for treatment in this case.
