This video clip shows transesophageal echocardiography. Arrow points to a vegetation located medially on the atrial aspect of a metallic mitral prosthesis in a pregnant female patient with endocarditis. No paravalvular regurgitation is noted and both leaflets of the prosthetic valve move well with normal washing jets (MR). The vegetation measures 1.58 cm in length and its large size distinguishes it from relatively benign strands and fibrinized sutures which are also generally located at the suture line. (AO: Aorta; LA: Left atrium; LV: Left ventricle; MVR: Mitral valve replacement).
