This recording is taken at the apex with high frequencies alone. It will simulate listening at the bedside with the diaphragm of the stethoscope. The recording shows a classic high frequency blowing quality regurgitant systolic murmur enveloping both the S1 and the S2. The S1 and the S2 are not clearly heard. One can also note a crescendo effect of the murmur towards the end of systole. This is very characteristic and always will indicate the murmur to be due to mitral regurgitation.
