This recording is taken from a patient with moderately severe aortic regurgitation at the left sternal border. This patient at the bedside had systolic retraction of the sternum, which was quite obvious when timed with the arterial pulse. This however on casual examination was misinterpreted as right ventricular movement causing systolic sternal lift. He also had a hyperdynamic large area left ventricular apex beat consistent with significant degree of volume overload secondary to the aortic regurgitation.
