If the clip is narrow, carefully open it by sliding a straight needle through the clip opening until the approximate diameter of the long process of incus is about 0.5 mm. Advance the FMT into the middle ear using a smooth alligator forceps or a suction tip. Avoid grasping the FMT at its junction to the wire.
