Applied Echocardiography in Coronary Artery Disease
by Ravi R Kasliwal, Manish BansalThis video clip showing apical four-chamber view at different stages during dobutamine echocardiography. Mid and apical lateral segments are hypokinetic at rest (upper left), improve at low-dose (upper right) but worsen at peak-dose (lower left). This is a typical biphasic response and suggests viability with ischemia (hibernation). In comparison, interventricular septum is akinetic (except for a small segment in the mid part) with no response to dobutamine infusion, which is suggestive of nonviable myocardium.
