About Video

This video presents the hairline design. Hairline design is truly an artistic statement and expression but must be founded on the knowledge and understanding of what a natural hairline should look like. Without understanding how male hair loss progresses in distinct patterns, it is impossible to recreate a pattern that exists in nature. Every reader to memorize and study the Norwood scale and then to transform that education by studying countless male subjects who are in various stages of hair loss to begin the process of recognizing those patterns in real-life scenarios. It will take years to recognize the subtleties of these patterns but even almost instantaneously one can begin to achieve the satisfaction of mastering the fundamentals of hairline design work. The Styrofoam head affords an inexpensive, reusable object to practice the art of hairline design with the obvious problem that this overly simplified head fails to provide the true anatomic landmarks of a real head. When working on a plastic-wrap covered Styrofoam head, one can use a Sharpie permanent marker, outline possible hair-loss patterns, and design an appropriate hairline to fit the degree of designed hair loss, then remove and replace the plastic wrap and practice again. However, when practicing on a real person’s head, an eyebrow pencil is more suitable because it can be easily erased with alcohol prep pads and allow for rapid and easy correction of one’s progressive attempts.
