This video clip showing parasternal short axis of the left ventricle at the level of the papillary muscles. Basal segments of the left ventricle contract normally (thicken in systole). One should look for the walls to move toward the center of the cavity and also look for wall thickening (ALPM: Anterolateral papillary muscle; PMPM: Posteromedial papillary muscle)
