About Video

This video clip shows two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography. Degenerated tissue mitral prosthesis with cusp prolapse. The arrow in the 4-chamber view shows cusp prolapse without rupture of a thickened, degenerated tissue mitral prosthesis (MVR). Color Doppler examination shows significant valvular mitral regurgitation (MR). M-mode examination also shows cusp prolapse and MR. Pulsed Doppler interrogation of the right upper pulmonary vein (LUPV) demonstrates systolic backflow (arrowhead) indicative of severe MR. (LA: Left atrium; LV: Left ventricle; RA: Right atrium).
