About Video

This video showing transpharyngeal ultrasound evaluation of internal carotid artery stent in an octogenarian. The arrow points to the stent located in the left internal carotid artery, visualized in long axis. The stent (S) visualized in short axis. Note the regularly spaced coils of the stent in shows in this procedure. Laminar flow signals with only mild aliasing are visualized within the stent (S) located in the left internal carotid artery (IC), suggesting no significant stenosis. This was confirmed by color Doppler-guided pulsed wave interrogation (inset), which also shows absence of high velocities in both systole and diastole. Peak systolic and diastolic velocities measured 0.4 and 0.2 m/s, respectively. (CC: Left common carotid artery; EC: Left external carotid artery; IJ: Left internal jugular vein).
