About Video

This video demonstrates the cardiac masses. Cardiac masses are rare entities that can be broadly categorized as either neoplastic or non-neoplastic. Cardiac masses include tumours, thrombi, non–bacterial thrombotic endocarditis, vegetations, and pseudotumors and artifacts. Unlike most other organs, the malignant behaviour in the heart has haemodynamic consequences due to blood flow obstruction, embolism and electrical or mechanical dysfunction. Indications for echocardiography, echo evaluation of the cardiac masses, prominent papillary muscle, LV band, LV tendon, extra cardiac masses, types of LA clots, infective endocarditis, left atrial myxoma, papillary fibroelastoma, and hydatid cyst are described in this video.
