About Video

Delamination of that membrane: after segmentation, the segmented membranes can be amputed by curved scissor or delaminated from the underlying elevated retina by cutter only or bimanually with forceps and cutter. As a multifunctional tool, cutter delimitation can be of like ‘lift and cut’, where cutter is used to lift the membrane and then cut. ‘Fold back cutter delamination’ for thinner flexible membrane, where placing the cutter on the anterior surface of ERM membrane just behind the leading edge result in fold back of membrane into the port. Delamination can be ‘inside out’, i.e managing diabetic ERM from inside outwards or ‘outside in’, i.e managing membranes from outside inwards. As central retina is thicker than the retina outside the macula, some prefers ‘inside out’ delamination as a safer technique.
