Retina & Vitreous Surgery: A Practical Guide to Theory, Practice and Management
by Subhendu Kumar Boral, Suber S HuangThis video showing viscodissection. The advanced thick broadly attached membrane sometimes difficult to separate from the detached thin retina. Use of viscoelastic (hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose) especially helpful in this broad-base VMT cases. A bent tipped 24G cannula can be used to inject viscoelastic by viscous fluid control (VFC) syringe, made for silicone oil injection. In this case of PDR with broad-base VMT, visco dissection technique used to separate the posterior hyaloid from elevated fovea followed by routine use of cutter suction to induce PVD from other part of retina.
