About Video

What is the sign demonstrated in this patient? This sign was demonstrated by Charles Beevor of England in a patient of spinal cord injury below the level of T9 dermatome. In the context of myopathies, it is seen in facioscapulohumeral dystrophy. This results from weakness of the infraumbilical portion of the rectus abdominis muscle and consequently, the upper part pulls the umbilicus upwards.
