Though controversial, some studies have shown that it helps to differentiate between progressive supranuclear palsy from frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Some studies have also shown positive results with corticobasal degeneration and diffuse Lewy body disease, while Alzheimer’s disease and posterior cortical atrophy do not show this sign.
