This is a unique sign found in Parkinson’s disease. As the patient is pushed back he maintains that posture till he falls at the end. This is a sign of rigidity of the flexors of the trunk. A related sign is the oblique sign, where the patient assumes an oblique posture when tilted back, the head not falling on the bed.
