About Video

The child shows rhythmic bidirectional nystagmus of equal amplitude in sinusoidal trajectory, like the swing of a pendulum. Most frequently it is caused by central lesions involving the central tegmental tract, such as in multiple sclerosis, nystagmus in acquired blindness, spasmus nutans, (see in later video), oculopalatal tremor and congenital nystagmus.
