Textbook of Laparoscopy for Surgeons and Gynecologists
by RK MishraThis video demonstrates the laparoscopic nephrectomy for kidney disease. Laparoscopic nephrectomy is the surgical removal of a kidney. A laparoscopic nephrectomy is minimally invasive operation to remove kidney. A laparoscopic nephrectomy involves removing an entire kidney through keyhole incisions in the flank, the side of the body between the ribs and the hip. A laparoscopic nephrectomy removes the kidney by using laparoscopic equipment. The first successful nephrectomy was performed by the German surgeon Gustav Simon. There are various indications for this procedure, such as renal cell carcinoma, a non-functioning kidney (which may cause high blood pressure) and a congenitally small kidney (in which the kidney is swelling, causing it to press on nerves which can cause pain in unrelated areas such as the back).
